The GAHD® Vet Premium glucose testing and ketone testing are based on the measurement of electrical current generated by the reaction of glucose and ketone with the enzymes and reagents of the test strip. The test meter measures the electrical current and displays a corresponding blood glucose or ketone levels. The strength of the electrical current produced by the reaction depends on the amount of blood glucose or ketone levels in the blood sample.

The GAHD® Vet Premium is intended for use by veterinary professionals as an aid to monitor glucose and ketone levels in dog, cat, dairy cow, sheep, goat, and horse only. It is intended to be used for the quantitative measurement of glucose or Ketone in a tiny fresh whole blood sample from one of these animals. It should NOT be used to diagnose diabetes, subclinical ketosis in these animals.

GAHD® Vet Premium is designed to be convenient and easy to use. Glucose testing and Ketone testing are on the same meter with two separate test strips. It automatically converts itself to a glucose meter by inserting a GAHD® Vet Premium glucose test strip, and it automatically converts itself to a ketone meter by inserting a GAHD® Vet Premium ketone test strip. It automatically codes itself every time a test strip is inserted.


More Accurate Than Human Meters
Human Meters Are Not Accurate If Used For Animal Blood Glucose Or Ketone Monitoring

The human blood glucose/ketone meter is not suitable for animal blood glucose or ketone testing because there are significant differences in blood composition between humans and animals. For example, parameters like hematocrit and blood cell distribution vary considerably in dogs, cats, horses, and cows compared to humans. The design and calibration of human blood glucose/ketone meters are specifically tailored to human blood parameters and intended for human use only. Therefore, attempting to use a human blood glucose/ketone meter for animal testing may result in inaccurate readings, which is not conducive to monitoring animal health.

In contrast, GAHD® Vet Premium is designed and precisely calibrated for the blood parameters of dogs, cats, cows, sheep, and horses. It is a testing device specifically tailored for these animals, providing more accurate and reliable test results to ensure more effective health monitoring for animals.

Good Concordance With Laboratory Analyzers
Highly accurate readings are important for therapeutic decisions. The GAHD® Vet Premium has good concordance with laboratory analyzers. We also evaluated the effect of hematocrit and maltose on the GAHD® Vet Premium monitor and demonstrated that there is little to no interference by either. It give the best performance with acceptable imprecision, good correlation, and minimal to no interference from hematocrit levels or maltose.
